Avis India has partnered up with IIT alumnus and Guinness World Record Holder Sushil Reddy to drive awareness about sustainable energy. As part of the association, Avis has been supporting Sushil on ‘The SunPedal Ride’ initiative, which includes a series of journeys on solar (partially) powered electric vehicles.
The company is providing a support vehicle and fuel to Sushil on the 60-day long journey of 6,000 kilometres along the Golden Quadrilateral. Together, Sushil and Avis India have so far travelled to villages and cities such as Sira, Davengere, Hubali, Belgaum, Kolhapur, Satara, Pune, Lonavla, Mumbai, Vapi, Surat, Barodara, Ahmedabad, Udaipur and Jaipur covering around 3000 kilometres. They will further cover cities like Mathura, Agra, Etawah, Kanpur, Lucknow, Sultanpur, Varanasi, Aurangabad, Chauparan, Dhanbad, Durgapur, Bardhaman, Kolkata, Brahmapur, Srikakulam, Vizag, Eluru, Guntur, Ongole, Nellore, Chennai, Vellore, Hosur and Bangalore, as the initiative enters the next stage of the journey.
Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Sunil Gupta, MD and CEO, Avis India said, “Air pollution is no longer a minor concern, but a major global crisis. Being a prominent name in the transportation space, we consider it our responsibility to raise awareness about measures that will help mitigate it.
